Amy Jones

Mrs. Amy Sweeney Jones, age 65, of Chapel Hill, died Sat., Aug. 9, 2014. A native of Marshall Co., Mrs. Jones was a daughter of the late William Akin Sweeney and Nancy Ross Clyde Sweeney. Amy was a homemaker and a member of Promise United Methodist Church in the Holts Corner community. She was the statistician for the Forrest Rockets Football team for 30+ years and was a member of the Class of 1967 at Forrest High School. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Nan Sweeney Duvall; a brother, Tony Sweeney; a grandson, William Johnson.

Survived by her husband, Harold Wayne “Homer” Jones of Chapel Hill; a daughter, Angie “Ricky” Green of Chapel Hill; 2 sons, Adam “Jessica” Jones of Chapel Hill and Rusty “Donna” Jones of Chapel Hill; 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Visitation will be from 4pm – 8pm, Mon., Aug. 11, 2014 at Lawrence Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 3pm, Tues., Aug. 12, 2014 from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Sweeney Cemetery near Chapel Hill.
