Barbara Griffy

Mrs. Barbara Finley Griffy, age 77, of Chapel Hill, TN, died Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family.  Mrs. Griffy was a native of Marshall County, TN and a daughter of the late William Harvey and Frances Elizabeth Sorrells Finley.  She was a graduate of Falls Business College and attended classes at Columbia State and UT Nashville.  She retired after 42 years at CPS (PlusMark) Gift Wrap Company in Franklin, TN where she climbed the career ladder and broke the glass ceiling in Management, starting as a secretary, then Customer & Sales Service Manager and Marketing Product Manager.  Mrs. Griffy was an active member of Holts Corner Baptist Church and a member of the Business & Professional Women.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Griffy in 2009 and her son-in-law, Steve Lawrence.

Mrs. Griffy is survived by her daughters, Sheila Griffy of Brentwood, TN, Sherry (Ricky) Batten of Lewisburg, TN, and Shanna (Mike) McCoy of Chapel Hill, TN; brother, Leon (Rena) Finley of Lewisburg, TN; 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Visitation with the family will be Thursday, January 19, 2017 from 4 PM- 8 PM at Lawrence Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM on Friday, January 20, 2017 from the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Chatman officiating.  Interment will follow at Swanson Cemetery in Chapel Hill, TN.

Pallbearers will be Zach McCoy, Wesley McCoy, Arlee Eslick, Seth McCoy, Jason Warner, John Adams, and Straley Holton.  Honorary pallbearers will be the Men at Holts Corner Baptist Church.
