Bernice Smith

Mrs. Bernice Lee Dalton Smith, age 99, of the Laws Hill Community in Marshall County, TN, died Monday, July 22, 2019, at her residence.  Mrs. Smith was born in Bunker Hill in Rutherford County, TN, and was a daughter of the late Allen Pearson and Emma Ragsdale Dalton.  She loved the Lord, was a homemaker, a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother.  She loved fishing, playing horseshoes, rook, and being amidst her family.  Mrs. Smith was a member of the Non-Denominational Christian Church Group.  She was the last survivor of the family of Allen and Emma Dalton.  In addition to her parents and siblings, she was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Lee Smith, an infant child, Emma Lee Smith, a son-in-law, Junior Peek, and a grandson, Glenn Davis.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her five sons: William (Carmen) Smith of Conroe, TX, Hubert (Jean) Smith of Culleoka, TN, Austin (Carol) Smith of Laws Hill, James (Faye) Smith of Laws Hill, and Bobby (Shirley) Smith of Shelbyville, TN; five daughters, Betty (Paul) Gentry of Shelbyville, TN, Kay (George) Quick of Shelbyville, TN, Janice (John) Fagan of Lewisburg, TN, Janie Peek of Shelbyville, TN, Sherry (Ronnie) Burns of Columbia, TN; 27 grandchildren; 64 great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren, step grandchildren, and step great grandchildren.

Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday, July 23, 2019, from 4 PM until 8 PM at Lawrence Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be conducted from the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at 11 AM with Ruth Hughes and Esther Duncan officiating.  Interment will follow at Hopper Cemetery in the Laws Hill Community of Marshall County, TN.

Pallbearers will be Stephen Smith, Chris Smith, Jeff Smith, Tim Smith, Tommy Davis, Eugene Peek, Dylan Jones, and Tommy Garrett.
