Betty Adcock

Mrs. Betty Juanita Beasley Adcock, age 74, of the Hickory Hill Community of Bedford County died Monday, April 18, 2016 at her home. Mrs. Adcock was born in Bedford County and was the daughter of the late Sam and Pauline Beasley. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by daughter-in-law Tammy Jones Adcock. She was a graduate of Forrest High School in Chapel Hill and Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro. She was an active member of the Hickory Hill United Methodist Church for forty-four years. Mrs. Adcock retired following twenty-three years as an elementary school teacher. She taught in South Pittsburg, Tennessee and Huntsville, Alabama prior to teaching 21 years in Bedford County. Twenty of those years were as a third grade teacher at Community Elementary School in Unionville. Mrs. Adcock enjoyed teaching, loved children, and referred to her students as “super kids.” She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Society for Women Educators, and the Bedford County Retired Teachers Association. She enjoyed living on the farm and teaching her grandchildren how to observe and appreciate nature. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother, a dedicated sister, and special friend to many.

Mrs. Adcock is survived by her husband of 52 years, Ronald Adcock, of the Hickory Hill community; sons, Ronald (Brenda) Adcock Jr., Franklin; Randy Adcock, Hickory Hill community; daughter Renee (Troy) Yoes, Unionville; grandchildren, Kayla Adcock, Farmington, New Mexico; Taylor Adcock, Hickory Hill community; Ashlyn and Brooklyn Yoes, Unionville; Eva Joy and Trace Adcock, Franklin; three sisters, Mary (Haskell) Greer, McMinnville; Shirley (Harry) Layne, Chapel Hill; Sandra (Rodney) King, Chapel Hill; three nieces and one nephew, two great nieces and four great nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 22, 2016 from 4PM - to 8PM at Lawrence Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 2PM from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Sweet officiating. Burial will follow in Pressgrove Cemetery near Unionville. Since education was important to her, donations may be made in her name to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, the Community Viqueens, or a school or charity of your choice.
