Charles Leonard

Mr. Charles Lamar Leonard, age 83, of Chapel Hill, TN, died Wednesday, February 28, 2018.  Lamar was a native of Marshall County, TN and a son of the late Roswell Howard and Sadie Maude Garrett Leonard.  He attended Holt’s Corner Baptist Church.  Mr. Leonard retired from the United States Navy with 22 years of devoted service to our Country, receiving the Air Medal and numerous other commendations for service in China Seas, Vietnam, and Korea.  He later retired from Bridgestone.  Mr. Lamar was a life member of the VFW, member of the Chapel Hill Lions Club for over 40 years, a 32nd degree Mason of the Chapel Hill Masonic Lodge, member of Fleet Reserve Association, a member of Am Vets of America, and Chairman of Veterans Committee for the Veterans Park in Chapel Hill, TN.  He loved to hunt and fish, loved farming and taking care of Momma Leonard’s place, and was a devoted and loving husband, outstanding father, wonderful granddaddy, and a  caring and giving member of the community.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Leonard was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Leonard, brothers, Lavan Leonard, Bobby Leonard, Larry Leonard, Loyd Leonard, and sister, Louise Leonard Young.

Mr. Leonard is survived by his son, Scott (Tanya) Leonard of Chapel Hill, TN; sister, Linda Leonard Riggs of Chapel Hill, TN; 5 grandchildren, Brittany Leonard, Dane Leonard, Blake Leonard, Tanner Garvin, and Tate Garvin; 2 great grandchildren, Cait Hargrove and Braylen Leonard.

Visitation with the family will be on Friday, March 2, 2018 beginning at 4 PM.  Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM on Saturday, March 3, 2018 from the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Chatman and Mr. Dean Delk officiating.  Interment with military honors will follow at Swanson Cemetery in Chapel Hill, TN.
