Charles "Smitty" Smith Iii

Charles “Smitty” Briggs Smith, III, 60 years old, died Saturday morning, April 6, 2013 at home with his family.  He is the son of Mary Ann Harwell Smith and the late Charles Briggs Smith, College Grove, TN; sister, Claudia Smith Flippen (Jerry), College Grove, TN; brother, Thomas Wyatt Smith (Teresa), Kansas City, MO.  He was also “Uncle Charlie” to nieces, Bonnie Flippen Tucker (Eric) and Katherine Maeve Smith; nephew, Matthew Wyatt Smith, as well as two great nephews, Luke Harwell and Owen Graham Tucker.

Charlie “Smitty”, retired from Murfreesboro Electric Company after nearly 30 years of service and was a life-long member of the College Grove United Methodist Church.  He will always be remembered for his kind-hearted friendship to many people, love of travel and rocking with the Rolling Stones.

Visitation and funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at Lawrence Funeral Home in Chapel Hill, TN.  Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. and the funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Justin Collett officiating.  Burial will follow in College Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nashville Zoo, one of his favorite organizations.
