Charles Wayne Townsend

Mr. Charles Wayne Townsend, age 71, of Chapel Hill, TN, died Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at his home in Chapel Hill.  Mr. Townsend was born in Lewisburg, TN, and was a son of the late George Townsend, Jr. and Lula Kate Helmick Townsend.  Mr. Wayne was a member of the Church of Christ.  He was retired from United Telephone Company with many years of service as a technician.  Mr. Townsend proudly served our country in the United States Army.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Donna Marie Townsend.

Mr. Wayne enjoyed trap shooting, hunting, and fishing.  He loved riding motorcycles and fixing old cars.  Most of all, he loved his family, especially his grandchildren.

Mr. Townsend is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Mrs. Kathy Moore Townsend of Chapel Hill, TN; children, Zachary Keith Townsend (Marsha) of Chapel Hill, TN, Michael Anthony Burrow (Monica Moore) of Memphis, TN, Tracy Rena Townsend of Chapel Hill, TN; 3 grandchildren, Jake Townsend, Bailey and Berkley Allen; brother, Ronald Lee Townsend of Manchester, TN; and all the extended daycare family that he has helped raise.

Visitation with the family will be on Friday, May 12, 2023 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Lawrence Funeral Home.  The Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Friday, May 12, 2023 from the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Bro. David Ghee and Bro. Larry Chatman officiating.  Interment will follow at Ring Cemetery in the Pottsville Community.
