Clifford Dickson

Mr. Clifford E. Dickson, age 92, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, formerly of Laurel Mississippi, died Thursday, August 23, 2018 in Murfreesboro.  Mr. Dickson was a son of the late John Elmer Dickson and Flossie Evelyn Dickson Barton.  He served his Country in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II and in the United States Army Medical Corp during the Korean War.  He received his Master’s Degree in poultry nutrition and retired in 1991 after 20 years as a lead nutritionist for Sanderson Farms in Laurel, MS.

Mr. Dickson was an avid golfer and was a member of  Blocher Masonic Lodge # 247 F. & A.M. in Boonville, AR., a Shriner and member of the York Rite in Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Syble Claudean Dowdy Dickson, who died in January of 2018; a son, Ronald Eugene Dickson; grandson, Bretton Allen “Buddy” Dickson; great grandson, Bradley Logan Dickson; sisters, Emma Jean Partain and Ruth Short Wright, and brothers, Clarence “Slim” Dickson, Clyde Dickson and J. C. Short.

Mr. Dickson is survived by his daughter, Pamela Cook Martin, Murfreesboro, TN; son, Bary (Becky) Dickson, Tampa, FL; daughter-in-law, Betty Dickson, Flat Creek Comm. of Bedford Co.; four grandchildren, Amy (Dave) Dickson Lodge, Elizabeth Dickson, Jennifer Dickson, Clifford (Josie) Cook; eleven great grandchildren.

Family members will receive friends on Saturday, August 25, 2018 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 26, 2018 from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home.  Burial, with military honors, will follow in Cothran Cemetery in the Rover Community of Bedford County.
