Mr. Don L. Patterson, age 65, of Rockvale, Tennessee, died Monday, July 19, 2021 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He was born in Murfreesboro, Tennessee and was a son of the late Earlen Freemond and Marjorie Ann Redmon Patterson.
Don was a graduate of Eagleville High School, Class of 1974 and received his bachelor’s degree in AgriBusiness-Husbandry from Middle Tennessee State University in 1978. He was co-owner of Boyce Livestock in Unionville, Tennessee, a member of Tennessee Farm Bureau, and a certified beef master.
He was a member of the Rockvale Church of God and served as chairman of the Board for the Church for 35 years. Don was also very much involved with the Church camp, Camp Overton, and served for 10 years as Chairman of the Board for the Camp.
Don was a member of the Chapel Hill Lions Club and a founding member of the Tractor Pull Committee which oversees the “Lions Superpull of the South Truck and Tractor Pull” for the Chapel Hill Lions Club. For his many years of dedication and service to the Lions Club, he was awarded the Melvin Jones Fellow Award, the highest honor that can be bestowed to a Lions Club member.
He loved to follow NASCAR and loved traveling, especially cruises. Don was a collector of pocket knives and was always looking for that special knife anywhere he went. Most of all he loved people and enjoyed talking with them and sharing in their interest.
Don loved his Church, Camp Overton and the Chapel Hill Lions Club. Through these, he was able to serve and express his love for each with selflessness and his humble heart.
Mr. Patterson is survived by his wife of 38 years, Kim Patterson, Rockvale, TN; daughter, Kalyn Patterson Strunce and son –in-law, Thaddeus Strunce, Chattanooga, TN; sister, Bridget Patterson, Eagleville, TN; brother, Fred (Ann) Patterson, Unionville, TN, his twin brother, Ron (Janie) Patterson, Chapel Hill, TN; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family members will receive friends on Thursday, July 22, 2021 from 10:00 am until 1:00 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. David Ford, Rev. Larry Chatman and JimThompson officiating. Burial will follow in Triune Cemetery, Triune, Tennessee.
