Donald Ray

Mr. Donald Ray, age 82, of College Grove, TN passed away on Monday, February 3, 2025 at his residence. He was a native of Monmouth, IL and the son of the late Ralph Luke Ray and Martha Frances Rule Ray. Mr. Ray was a member of Mother Teresa Catholic Church. He was retired after many years of service with Roadway Express. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Lynn Ray, and a brother, Jack Ray.

Mr. Donald enjoyed stock car racing and hot rods. He loved using his hands to build things with wood and engineering and fabricating things. He had a passion for water sports, boating and skiing. He could be found helping others with anything they needed. Most of all, he loved talking with his family and sharing time with them. 

Mr. Ray is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Mary Woerly Ray of College Grove, TN; children, Sandra (Steve) Cavanaugh of Kirkwood, IL, Paula (Fred) Mettler of Murfreesboro, TN, Kathy Stewart of Murfreesboro, TN, Steve (Krissy) Ray of Chapel Hill, TN, Michael Ray of Chapel Hill, TN; 12 grandchildren, Megan, James, Patrick, Matthew, Jared, Justine, Jevanie, Brandon, Susan, Ryan, Lindsay, Alysa Ray; 11 great grandchildren, Kylie, Cayden, Caroline, Charley Kate, Kinsley, Isabelle, Tom, Benjamin, Zayne, SJ, Mary Kate; sister, Mary Frances Damewood of Ohio.

Visitation with the family will be at 12 noon on Friday, February 7, 2025 at St. Luke Catholic Church in Smyrna, TN.  The funeral mass will be conducted at 1 PM at St. Luke Catholic Church, 10682 Old Nashville Hwy., Smyrna, TN 37167.  Interment will follow at Swanson Cemetery in Chapel Hill, TN.
