Mr. Donald Melvin Hatcher, age 79, of the New Town Community of Rutherford County, died Monday, May 14, 2018 in Madison, Tennessee. Mr. Hatcher was born in Williamson County and was a son of the late Horace Hatcher and Fannie Elizabeth Ivery Hatcher Bochy. He was a member of Rockvale Church of Christ and was retired from the Rutherford County Board of Education Maintenance Department. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hatcher was preceded in death by sisters, Minerva Foster and Faye Anderson; and a brother, Henry Thomas Hatcher.
Mr. Hatcher is survived by his wife of 56 years, Anne Hatcher, New Town Community; daughters, Cheryl (Terry) Douglas and Donna Burnett, both of the New Town Community; sisters, Sarah (Ed) Voss, Rockport, TX, Elvin (Bill) Chick, Antioch, TN; grandchildren, Christy Douglas, Ernest Michael (Halley) Burnett, Ashley Burnett; several nieces and nephews.
Family members will receive friends on Friday, May 18, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Bro. Shane Merritt and Bro. Robert Vick officiating. Burial will follow in King Cemetery in the Rover Community of Bedford County.
Family members would like to extend a special thanks to Alive Hospice, Pam White and the Staff of Loving Hearts and Dr. Don Odom for their extraordinary compassion and care of Mr. Melvin.
