Donna Gilbert

Mrs. Donna M. Gilbert, age 94, of Chapel Hill, Tennessee, died Tuesday morning, May 26, 2015 at her home in Chapel Hill. Mrs. Gilbert was born in New London, Ohio and was a daughter of the late Henry Richard and Amanda Agnes Weiss Stoskopf. She was a homemaker and was retired from Henry Horton State Park restaurant, and later, from H&S Pharmacy of Chapel Hill. Mrs. Gilbert was the oldest active member of Smyrna Baptist Church in Chapel Hill. She was also a Gold Star Mother of the American Legion Auxiliary and a member of the Chapel Hill Senior Citizens. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gilbert was also preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Gilbert, who died in 1988, and sons, 1st Lt. Carl E. Gilbert and infant son, Richard Gilbert.

Mrs. Gilbert is survived by a son, Chris Gilbert, (Jean Chrisman), Chapel Hill, TN; grandchildren, David C. Crane (Jenny), Michael R. Crane (Paisley), Tracey L. Gilbert-Dallow (Howard), John G. Crane (Nathalie), Jonathan S. Gilbert (Jessica); great grandchildren, Will Crane, Sam Crane, Candace Crane, Tori Chapmon, Joey Gilbert-Reyes, Ravynn Gilbert-Reyes; special friends and caregivers, Margie Cheek, Betty Wright and Maxine Mayes. Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at Lawrence Funeral Home.

Family members will also receive friends on Thursday, May 28, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Smyrna Baptist Church in Chapel Hill with funeral services being conducted at 1:00 p.m. at the church with Rev. Kevin Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Swanson Cemetery in Chapel Hill.

Michael Crane, David Crane, Jonathan Gilbert, Howard Dallow, Will Crane and Sam Crane will serve as active pallbearers. The Adult Four Sunday School Class of Smyrna Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.
