Dr. Haskell Harrison Greer, Jr. age 71 of McMinnville, TN, died Monday, February 06, 2017, at N.H.C. Health Care in McMinnville, TN. Born July 17, 1945 in Nashville, TN to Haskell and Thelma Greer, he graduated from East High in Nashville in 1963, and attended MTSU in Murfreesboro where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree, a Master of Arts Degree, and a Doctorate of Arts Degree in history. Haskell married on September 16, 1966, moved to McMinnville in 1967 to work in the Warren County schools where he taught for nearly 50 years. He served as adjunct faculty at Motlow State Community College and Tennessee Technological University. He attended First United Methodist Church where he taught the Faith Bible Class.
Dr. Greer is preceded in death by his parents Haskell Harrison, Sr. and Thelma Lee Cantrell Greer and sister-in-law Juanita Adcock. Survivors include his wife of 50 years Mary Ann Beasley Greer, daughter Sara Ann Greer Dodson (Josh), grandchildren Macy Ann Dodson and Bryce Harrison Dodson, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Shirley and Harry Layne, Sandy and Rodney King, and Ronny Adcock, many nieces, nephews, and cousins, and special cousins Fay Greene, and Jack and Lestil Cantrell.
Funeral service will be at 11 AM Friday, February 10, 2017, in the McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Tommy Vann will officiate with personal remarks by Dr. Jason Greene. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Bedford County at 2:30 PM. The Greer Family will receive friends Thursday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home. The Faith Sunday School Class at First United Methodist Church will be honorary pallbearers.
