Edna Howell

Mrs. Edna Byrd Howell, age 83, of Chapel Hill, Tennessee, died Thursday, March 27, 2014 in Columbia, Tennessee. Mrs. Howell was born in Davidson County and was a daughter of the late George Kelly and Anna Waller Byrd. She was employed with the United States Post Office in Chapel Hill where she retired as Assistant Postmaster. Following retirement, Mrs. Edna enjoying spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren on the family farm. Mrs. Howell was a long time member of Holts Corner Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Eugene “Doc” Howell, Sr.; infant son, George Elwood Howell, daughter, Patsy Naron, son, Richard Eugene “Ricky” Howell, Jr., five sisters and two brothers.

Mrs. Howell is survived by a daughter, Diana (Joe) Hill, Chapel Hill, TN; son Billy Howell, Chapel Hill, TN; daughter-in-law, Diane Howell, Chapel Hill, TN; son-in-law, Harvey Naron, Nolensville, TN; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Lawrence Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 30, 2014 from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. Tim McGehee officiating. Burial will follow in Swanson Cemetery in Chapel Hill.

Barry Hill, Matt Naron, David King, Jamie Russell, Ray Russell, Brian Ladd, Andy Ladd and Jerry Byrd will serve as active pallbearers. George Post, John Post, Billy Post, Charles Russell, Pete Ladd and retired postal employees of the Chapel Hill Post Office will serve as honorary pallbearers.
