Elizabeth Pope

Mrs. Elizabeth Marie Adgent Pope, age 74, of the Rover Community of Bedford County, died Tuesday, December 13, 2016 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. She was born in Marshall County and was a daughter of the late Leonard Woodson and Mary Sue Perryman Adgent. Mrs. Pope was a graduate of the Class of 1960 from Forrest School in Chapel Hill. She was a homemaker, and for 38 years, was a salesperson for Avon products. Mrs. Pope was a member of Rover Baptist Church and served as the music director at Rover Baptist and Longview Baptist Churches for over 38 years.

Mrs. Pope is survived by her husband of 50 years, Thomas D. Pope, Rover Community; children, John Thomas (Rhonda) Pope, Rover Community, Karen (Thomas) Philpott, Wartrace, TN, Rebecca (Mitch) Jacobs, Rover Community; brother, Steve (Rosemary) Adgent, Rover Community; grandchildren, Brittney Hickle, Sarah Philpott, Christopher Philpott, Tyler Pope, Levi Pope, Ruby Pope, Sadie Jacobs; great grandchild, Nevaeh Grace Reed.

Family members will receive friends on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 15, 2016 from the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. J. C. Christian, Rev. W.D. Thomason and Rev. Sam Bullington officiating. Burial will follow in Cothran Cemetery in the Rover Community.

Steve Adgent, Cody Adgent, Allen Pope, Alton Pope, Haywood Pope, Leon McClaran and Mitch Jacobs will serve as pallbearers.

In Lieu of Flowers, Memorial Donations may be made toward funeral expenses. .
