Evelyn Black

Mrs. Evelyn Grace Sewell Black, age 92, of Athens, TN, died Friday, August 16, 2019. Born in Niota, TN, Mrs. Black was a daughter of the late Gilford G. Sewell and Lida Enola Gunther Sewell. She was retired from General Motors. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence E. Black; a son, Clarence Edward Black; 6 sisters and 2 brothers.

Survived by a daughter, Shirley (Ron Neeley) McBride of Shelbyville,TN; a son, Alvin “Earl” (Debbie) Black of Lewisburg, TN; 2 sisters, Jan Woodward of Al and Dortha Watt of MI; 5 grandchildren, Tamara Knight, Martin E. Black, Terri Hines, Clarence Earl Black and Amberly Clemons; 10 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 20, 2019 from 4pm-7pm at Lawrence Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 10am, Wednesday, August 21, 2019 from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home in Chapel Hill, TN. Interment will be at 1pm, Thursday, August 22, 2019 at McMinn Memory Gardens in Athens, TN.
