Frances Beverly Cooper passed away at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville on February 10, 2015.
She was 80 years old. Mrs. Cooper was the wife of Carl S. Cooper of Chapel Hill, Tennessee. She is survived by her son, David Cooper (Carolyn) of Kingston Springs, Tennessee. She is also survived by her daughter, Susan Ernest (Joey) of Cumming, Georgia. Mrs. Cooper had four grandchildren, Hannah and Sam Cooper, and Grace and Maggie Ernest. She had one great granddaughter, Chali Cooper.
Mrs. Cooper was a lifetime member of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir and attended Women’s Guild. Mrs. Cooper was a graduate of Forrest High School’s class of 1953. She later attended Middle Tennessee State University where she received a Bachelor of Education, and later a Master’s degree from Tennessee State University. She taught elementary education in Chapel Hill for 25 years until her retirement in 1999.
In retirement, she spent time traveling, enjoying her grandchildren, collecting antique dolls, and Blue Ridge dishes. She cherished her close friends and service in the church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lee and Grace Reynolds Cathey of Chapel Hill. She is also preceded in death by one brother, Robert Reynolds Cathey. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff in the cardiac intensive care unit at Centennial Medical Center for its compassionate care. We would especially like to thank Nurses Dolly, Renea, Mary and Jarita.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 13, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home, Chapel Hill, TN. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church with family members receiving friends one hour prior to services. A graveside service will follow at Swanson Cemetery. Rev. Jimmy Hendricks and Rev. Dave Bradley will officiate. Active pallbearers are Sam Cooper, Stanley Harris, Danny Blalock, Dean Delk, Jerry Sprague and Ted Williams.
