Gary Ade Lukonen

Mr. Gary Ade “Pops” “Luke” Lukonen, age 87, of Chapel Hill, TN, passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2023 in Columbia, TN.  Mr.  Lukonen was born in Flint, MI and was a son of the late Ade Michael Lukonen and Dorothy B. Russell Lukonen.  He proudly served our country in the United States Air Force as a radio operator and part of the atomic bomb testing process.  He was retired from General Motors Corporation and as a shop committeeman.    Mr. Lukonen was a proud member of the UAW Local#659 and a member of Community Fellowship Church.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his sister, Sharon McVay.

Mr. Luke enjoyed hunting and fishing and was known as a great angler.  He loved watching hockey and football along with dirt bike racing.  He had a passion for bowling, riding snow mobiles, and fixing cars.

Mr. Lukonen is survived by his children, Douglas E. Lukonen of Chapel Hill, TN, Gene Lukonen of Clio, MI, Michael A. Lukonen of Flint, MI, Joyce Humphrey of Swartz Creek, MI, Ed Lukonen of Flint, MI, Rick Hanson of Swartz Creek, MI; several grandchildren; brother, Dave Lukonen of Flint, MI; sister, Gloria Robinson of Mobile, AL

In accordance with Mr. Lukonen’s wishes, he will be cremated and inurnment will follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI.
