Gene Martin

Mr. Gene Martin, age 81, of the Verona Community of Marshall County, died Sunday, December 7, 2014 at his home in Verona. Mr. Martin was born in Marshall County and was a son of the late Roy Elmer and Geneva Bennett Martin. He served his country in the United States Army and the Tennessee National Guard. Mr. Martin was a charter member and deacon of Bethlehem Baptist Church. Before becoming disabled, Mr. Martin was employed by Dole Refrigeration in Lewisburg, TN. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Martin and a grandson, Will Martin.

Mr. Martin is survived by his wife, Shirley Logue Martin, Verona Comm.; daughter, Lisa Lewis, Murfreesboro, TN; son, Terry (Melinda) Martin, Verona Comm.; sisters, Marie (Wayne) Petty, Lewisburg, TN, Peggy (Mac) Fowler, Murfreesboro, TN; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Family members will receive friends on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. Gerald Yerkes and Rev. Cliff Vines officiating. Burial will follow in Swanson Cemetery in Chapel Hill.
