Genevieve Rose Ponton White

Mrs. Genevieve Rose Ponton White, age 85, of Florence, AL, formerly of Chapel Hill, TN, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2022 in Florence, AL.  She was a native of Clifton, IL and was a daughter of the late Emile Alfred Ponton and Myrtle Marie Hartman Ponton.  Mrs. Genevieve was retired from Snap-on Tools where she worked for many years in production.  She was a member of Saint John the Evangelist Church in Lewisburg, TN.  Mrs. White was actively involved in the VFW and the Handicapped Travel Club.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, George Goselin, Roy Eugene DeLong, and Norman White, son Eugene DeLong, step-daughter, Emilia Leach, sisters, Josephine Bowers, Pauline Leslie, brother, infant Alfred Ponton, and son-in-law, Jimmy Pierce.

Mrs. Genevieve loved her family and spending time with them, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, embroidery, and quilting.  She had a passion for genealogy, fishing, camping, and traveling everywhere to see old friends and family.  Mrs. White loved playing cards, including Pinochle, Euchre, and Canasta.  Her favorite hobby was baking all sorts of goods for others.  She enjoyed joking and teasing others and telling stories about her childhood best friend, Foy Bradley.

Mrs. White is survived by her children, Trina (Dave) Beckman of Lewisburg, TN, Tracy (Steven) Bush of Machesney Park, IL, Misty Pierce of Florence, AL, Shari (Charles) Wheeler of Indianapolis, IN; 19 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; sister, Harriet (Ronald) Harwood of Clifton, IL; brothers, Alfred Ponton, Sr. of Chebanse, IL, and Leo Ponton of Bourbonnais, IL.

Visitation with the family will be on Monday, January 2, 2023 from 10 AM until 11 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lewisburg, TN.  The Celebration of Life Mass will be conducted at 11 AM on Monday, January 2, 2023 at the Church with Father Regimon Augustine officiating.  Interment will follow at Swanson Cemetery in Chapel Hill, TN.

Josh Pierce, Jake Pierce, Cory Beckman, Hunter Beckman, Gage Hargrove, and Brandon Hargrove will serve as pallbearers.
