Mr. George W. Sanders, Jr., age 101, of the Harpeth Community in Williamson County, TN, died Wednesday, May 4, 2022 in Franklin, TN. He was a native of Bedford County, TN and a son of the late George Washington Sanders, Sr. and Rosie Mae Potts Sanders. Mr. Sanders was retired from Sealtest Milk Plant and proudly served our country in the United States Army during World War II.
He enjoyed gardening, fishing, the outdoors, Atlanta Braves, but most importantly, he loved his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a child, Douglas Wayne Sanders, siblings, Minnie Bell Crowell, Comer Sanders, Charles Sanders, Clyde Sanders, Dorothy “Dix” York, and June Sanders.
Mr. Sanders is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Wilma Sanders of the Harpeth Community; children, Vivian (Andy) Stephens of Nashville, TN, Valerie (Jackie) Hazelwood of the Ash Hill Community, Kevin (Paula) Sanders of Thompsons Station, TN, Amy Perry of Spring Hill, TN; 6 grandchildren, Matthew Dillingham, Ashley Kimball, Brittany Collier, Will Hazelwood, Shelby Corbin, Skylar Sanders; 5 great grandchildren, Cole & Luke Kimball, Madison & Olivia Collier, and Griffin Dillingham.
Visitation with the family will be from 4 PM until 8 PM on Friday, May 6, 2022 at Lawrence Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM on Saturday, May 7, 2022 from the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Jamie Pratt officiating. Interment will follow at Talley Cemetery near Petersburg, TN.
Family members will serve as pallbearers.
