Mr. Harold Ralston, age 80, of the Rover Community of Bedford County, died Wednesday evening, June 1, 2016 at his home after several weeks illness. Mr. Ralston was born in Rutherford County and was a son of the late George William and Bennie Maye Cothran Ralston. He attended Middle Tennessee State University from which he graduated in 1958. Mr. Ralston retired after 37 years with the Tennessee Department of Transportation where he was a civil engineer. Following retirement, he served for many years on the Bedford County Road Board. He was also a life long farmer. Mr. Ralston was a member and the oldest active deacon at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sons, Phillip David Ralston and Mark Crawford Ralston and by a sister, Hazel Maye Ralston Arnold.
Mr. Ralston is survived by his wife, Faye Ralston, Rover Community; sons, Marvin (Sherre) Ralston, Melvin (Melanie) Ralston, Nathan (Marilyn) Ralston, all of the Rover Community, Carl Ralston, Bellevue community of Davidson Co.; sister, Nancy (Brent) Ogles, Eagleville, TN; brother, Wayne (Kaye) Ralston, Bell Buckle, TN; eleven grandchildren, three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Family members will receive friends on Friday, June 3, 2016 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home. Visitation will also be on Saturday, June 4, 2016 from 11:30 until 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Rockvale, TN. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Saturday at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Maxwell officiating. Burial will follow in Cothran Cemetery in the Rover Community of Bedford County.
