Hayes "Mutt" Westmoreland

Mr. Hayes “Mutt” Westmoreland, age 88 of the Caney Spring Community of Marshall County, died Friday, June 17, 2016 in Columbia, Tennessee. Mr. Westmoreland was born in Maury County and was a son of the late Joshua Rollins and Grace Emma Parrish Westmoreland. He was retired from Genesco Corp. of Chapel Hill where he worked as a maintenance technician and was a long time dairy farmer in the Caney Spring Community. He was a member of the Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, Mr. Westmoreland was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Armistead Westmoreland, who died in 1991 and two brothers, Lewis Westmoreland and Josh Rollins “Buddy” Westmoreland, Jr.

Mr. Westmoreland is survived by his daughter, Denise (Dwight) Liles, Mt. Pleasant, TN; son, Phil (Sandy) Westmoreland, Chapel Hill, TN; sister, Juanita E. Westmoreland, Caney Spring Comm.; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family members will receive friends on Sunday, June 19, 2016 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Monday, June 20, 2016 from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Stan Butt officiating. Burial will follow in Lone Oak Cemetery in Lewisburg, TN.

The family of Mr. Westmoreland would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors and staff at Life Care Center of Columbia and Maury Regional Medical Center for their kindness and compassionate care during his illness.
