Helen Long

Mrs. Helen Marie Long, age 76, of Lewisburg, TN, passed away on Sun., July 6, 2014. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Grady Long; her parents, Lorene Neese Batten and George Batten; a brother, Edward Franklin Batten.

Mrs. Long graduated from Marshall Co. High School in 1956, attended Columbia Business School for two years and worked briefly at a radio station in Columbia before marrying in 1958. She was a homemaker and worked side by side with her husband as he served in the military and they raised their family. After retirement from the military, the family moved to the Laws Hill community where they worked and lived for over 40 years. In 1984, she and her husband operated a market (My Place) in Laws Hill until his death in 1990. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Lewisburg and she loved and served our Lord, her family and friends. She loved everyone and we all loved her so much. Nothing will be the same without her.

Survived by 3 daughters; Carolyn Long of Florence, AL, Cindy Long and Cathy Long both of the Laws Hill community; a sister-in-law, Emma Long of Dalton, GA; an Aunt, Ruth Neese of Shelbyville TN; cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Mon., July 7, 2014 from 4pm – 8pm at Lawrence Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11am, Tues., July 8, 2014 from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Woodford officiating. Burial will follow at the Hopper Cemetery near Chapel Hill.
