Mr. Holman Sorrells, age 91, of the Rover Community of Bedford County, died Sunday, April 6, 2014 in Shelbyville, Tennessee. Mr. Sorrells was born in Lincoln County and was a son of the late Hoyte and Annie Raby Sorrells. He served in the United States Air Force and was a retired self-employed mechanic. Mr. Sorrells was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in the Rover Community. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Herman Sorrells and a half-sister, Frances Read.
Mr. Sorrells is survived by his wife, Lucille Sorrells, Rover Comm.; daughter, Sharon Sorrells, Unionville, TN; sons, Rev. James “Jimmy” (Judy) Sorrells, Rover Comm., David (Nancy) Sorrells, Midland Comm.; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 8, 2014 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. Scotty Sorrells officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Simpson Cemetery.
