James Mealer

James Alfred "Bubba" Mealer, Jr. passed away Sunday May 21, after a lengthy illness.  He was born August 4, 1950 in Lewisburg to the late James, Sr. and M. Evelyn Elmore.  On June 23, 1988, he was married to Donna Peirce, who survives.

He retired from the US Army in 1991 after serving for 20 years.  He served our country while in Germany, Michigan, Texas, Korea and Operation Desert Storm.  He loved to drag race, fish, old westerns and baseball.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; children, Nicole Travis of Bartlett, Andreas Frank (Heather) of El Paso TX, Chris Mealer (Kelli) of Cordova, Jacob Mealer, Dana Mealer and Michael Mealer all of Memphis; eleven grandchildren, Alexandra Kassela (Chris), Shelby Mount, Seth Travis, Andreas Frank, Jacqueline Frank, Nikolaus Frank, Monique Cordova, Madelyn Raymond, Anthony Frank, Peter Frank and Jamison Mealer; two great grandchildren; sisters, Wanda Hargrove and Brenda Daughrity (Gary) of Chapel Hill, Linda Whitehurst (Jerry) of Brentwood and brother Ricky Mealer (Terressa) of Chapel Hill.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by one great grandson and brother-in-law, Billy Hargrove.

Visitation was held at Serenity Funeral Home in Memphis.

A Memorial will be held Saturday, June 17 from 10:00am to Noon at Smyrna Baptist Church in Chapel Hill with Military Honors to follow at Swanson Cemetery.
