Mr. James Franklin Stevenson, age 82, of Unionville, Tennessee, died Saturday afternoon, April 9, 2016 in Shelbyville, Tennessee after an extended illness. Mr. Stevenson was born in Bedford County and was a son of the late Emmitt Marvin and Lula Mae McGee Stevenson. Mr. Stevenson served his country, first in the Army National Guard, and later, in the United States Army where he served as a Sergeant during the Korean Conflict. After returning home from service, he began his career as an electrician with TVA. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Shelbyville, TN, Am Vets Post 39, Unionville, TN, and IBEW Local 175, Chattanooga, TN. Mr. Stevenson was a member of Rover Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Jean Boyce Stevenson, who died in 2012; a daughter, Kristy Stevenson, sister, Dorothy Cates and half-brother, Robert “Hap” McGee.

Mr. Stevenson is survived by his daughter, Nancy Ruth Stevenson, Unionville, TN; sons, George Wayne Adcock, Unionville, TN, Roger Dale Adcock, Hixson, TN, Michael Neal Adcock, Shelbyville, TN, Kerry Robin Stevenson, Sale Creek, TN; brother, Billy Stevenson, Shelbyville, TN; ten grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

Family members will receive friends on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2016 from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Grooms and Rev. David Wall officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Simpson Cemetery in the Rover Community of Bedford County.
