Mr. James E. “Jimmy” West, Sr., age 93, of Chapel Hill, Tennessee, died Thursday, September 5, 2013 in Nashville, Tennessee. Mr. West was born in Williamson County and was a son of the late Mamie McKay and George Williamson West, Sr. He served as a medic in the United States Army during World War II and was a life long dairy farmer. Mr. West was a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church for over 54 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James Edward “Jim” West, Jr., who died in 2007 and by sisters, Sally Sawyer, Dixie Sawyer, Helen Hulme and brothers, Freelin, G.W., Jr., Milton and Allen “Mack” West.
Mr. West is survived by his wife of 67 years, Nelle Watkins West, Chapel Hill, TN; son, Joe W. (Joy Clay) West, Tifton, GA; two grandchildren, Rachel and Jordan West, Tifton, GA; loyal employee and friend, Alvin Ingram, Chapel Hill, TN; numerous nieces and nephews.
Family members will receive friends on Saturday, September 7, 2013 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 8, 2013 from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. Marc West and Rev. Jimmy Hendrix officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Franklin, TN.
Jordan West, Alvin Ingram and nephews of Mr. West will serve as pallbearers.
