Mr. James Milton Simpson, age 85, of the Rover/Eagleville Community, died Tuesday evening, January 7, 2014 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Mr. Simpson was an avid lover of basketball and baseball, of which he used to play. He was a life long farmer and carpenter and enjoyed his time loafing at Carlton’s General Store with his many friends. He was an active longtime member of Eagleville United Methodist Church. Mr. Simpson was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Mary Jane Stephenson Simpson, who died in 2012, his father and mother, Benjamin Fredrick and Georgie Blanton Simpson, his step-mother, Frances Giles Simpson, who raised him after the death of his mother; a brother, Thomas Benjamin Simpson and two great grandchildren, Catherine Grace and Kara Grace McClaran.

Mr. Milton is survived by daughters, Suzanne (Johnny) McClaran, Eagleville, TN, Rita (George) Boyd, Rover, TN; grandchildren, Davy (Melissa) McClaran, Chapel Hill, TN, Gretchen (Lucas) Thompson, Rockvale, TN; great grandchildren, Ryley and Owen McClaran, Lizzy and Meah Thompson. Milton was very excited and looking forward to the arrival of another great grandchild Eden Thompson.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 9, 2014 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Friday, January 10, 2014 from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Gilbert and Rev. Barry Culbertson officiating. Burial will follow in Simpson Cemetery in Rover, TN.
