Jimmy Jordan

1957 — January 1, 2022

College Grove, Tennessee

James “Jimmy” Jordan, age 65, of College Grove, TN, passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones. His Mama and Dad, Jim and Kay Jordan, dogs: Gracie and Elmo, preceded him in death. Jimmy aka “Stringbean” has alluded death countless times throughout his life, but in the end, it was a nefarious criminal named cancer that took him.

He is survived by his daughters, Phoebe, whom he passed on a magnitude of useful and useless wisdom, and Breann. Also, his brother and picking partner, Ronnie, and sister, Nora. He was a proud Grandad to Abby, whom he taught the beauty of fire and explosives, and Eli, who he taught the priceless feel of two-wheels and a wrench in hand, also Nathan, Jacob, and Mackenzie. Jimmy was called uncle by Dawn, Marcia, Andrew, Anna, and lil Pat. Riley-proofing welds for his brother-in-law was a favorite pastime. He also enjoyed playing cards and eating ham with his sister-in-law, Callie. Also, in remembrance, he leaves one last broken-hearted redhead, his favorite, Sheila. He adored each member of his pack thoroughly while simultaneously pulling pranks, battling witts, and sharing his vast knowledge and convictions with each.

Jimmy attended Nashville Auto Diesel College, then joined the Ironworkers Union Local 25 in Detroit, following in the footsteps of his father, from which they both retired from. He welcomed open couch and barstool conversations about the unions that provided a living for his family.

The way he died was just as he lived, he wrote his own rules, paved his own way, and if told he could not do it, he would make sure he could. People knew that hanging out with him could result in a night spent in jail, but most times, it ended around a well-made fire with a guitar in hand. He was a rare combination of someone who had a love for life but firmly demonstrated the thrill of actually living. Jimmy possessed a love for anything mechanical (especially motorcycles) and a good song always playing. He had an irreverent sense of humor and stunning blue eyes. He will be fondly remembered by all folks whose life he touched, willingly or unwillingly. Budweiser Inc. sends their condolences.

Visitation will be on Friday, October 7, 2022 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Lawrence Funeral Home in Chapel Hill, TN. The last ride with Jimmy will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at 2:00 pm from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home to the Rucker Family Cemetery near his home in College Grove, TN.
