Kathy Coppings

Mrs. Kathy Coppings age 83 of Chapel Hill, TN passed away March 2, 2025. Kathy was born June 7, 1942 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Margaret Ambrozi Shaw and Harry Thomas Shaw. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Bill Coppings, sister Barbara Morris, her in laws John Morris, Donald and Susan Coppings, and a nephew Seth Morris. 

Kathy was a graduate of John Adams High School in Ozone Park, NY. She proudly served our country in the United States Navy. She was in the Navy Waves in Norfolk, VA during the Cuban Missile Crisis and JFK Assassination. She was a life member of Military Women Across the Nation, where she served as Chaplain in her local unit. Kathy was also a member of Women’s Memorial and Lone Sailors Memorial in Washington D.C. She was a proud member of Disabled Americans Auxiliary. Kathy was very active in several churches, schools, and Boys and Girls Scouts. You could find her donating her time in 4-H, Junior Bowling, Little League Baseball, and Military Organizations. 

Kathy is survived by her children, Annette, Elaine, and Kenneth; 2 grandsons, Robert and Nicholas Rising; brother in laws, Robert (Connie) Coppings and Richard (Yolanda) Coppings; 7 nephews; 6 nieces; 13 great nieces and nephews; 4 great-great nephews; and 1 great-great niece. 

A funeral service will be conducted on March 21, 2025, at 10AM at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church 3019 Cayce Lane, Columbia, TN 38401. There will be no public visitation before the service.
