Mr. Kelly Lunn, age 88, of the Holts Corner Community of Marshall County, died Thursday, January 17, 2013 in Hillcrest Nursing Facility in Owensboro, KY. Mr. Lunn was born in Marshall County and was a member of Proimise United Methodist Church. Kelly was a self-employed merchant for 35 years, where he served his community generously. Mr. Lunn played Minor League Baseball from 1948 until 1951 in Pennington Gap, VA, Big Stone Gap, VA, Crowley, LA and Port Arthur, TX. He sponsored and coached Little League Baseball and served as an early board member of the Marshall County Vocational School. An avid bird hunter, he was past member and officer of the Volunteer State Field Trial Club and Old Hickory Kennel Club and raised many championship Pointers. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Emogene Chambliss Lunn, mother, Hannah Sue Lunn Scott and sisters, Faye Lamb and Sarah (Jack) Tucker.
Mr. Lunn is survived by his daughter, Connie (Bruce) Blanton, Owensboro, KY; step-daughter, Janice (Al) Schmunsler, Pasadena, TX; step-son, Jim (Betsy) Barnes, Centerville, TN; grandchildren, Will and Andy Blanton, Rhonda Barnes Bennett, Darren Barnes, Bill Nix, Avis Nix, and Jamie Kelley; sisters, Ruth Sweeney, Alice Harris, and Madge (Tom) Trisdale; brother-in-law, Ralph Lamb; a special cousin, W.O. (Bill) Taylor; many loving nieces and nephews.
Family members will receive friends on Saturday, January 19, 2013 from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 20, 2013 from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Hal Manier and Rev. John Pennington officiating. Burial will follow in Swanson Cemetery in Chapel Hill.
In Lieu of Flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to Promise United Methodist Church or Forrest High School Athletic Department. A visit to an elderly or shut-in neighbor or friend would also be a cherished memorial to Kelly.
