Leola Hundley

Leola Taylor Hundley, age 100, formerly of Ooltewah, TN, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2017 in Shelbyville, TN.
She was born in Ringgold, GA on January 16, 1917. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard D. Hundley, her parents, John and Nita Pearl Taylor, brothers, John Taylor, Thomas Taylor, Broadus Taylor, Marshall Taylor and sisters, Ina Goins, Wilma Ward, and Jessie Neal.
Survivors include her daughters, Linda (James E.) Brooke of New York, NY and Susan (James H.) Sandlin of Shelbyville, TN; grandchildren, Laura (Benny) Moore of Panama City, FL, Mary Sandlin of Ashland, OR, Andrew(Sonja Reitsma) Sandlin of Providence, RI and Kathryn (Mark) Morel of Franklin, TN; great grandchildren, Keith Moore, Stephanie (David) Quesada, Taylor Moore, Sierra and Nyah Plotts, Aidan, Isaac and Sabina Sandlin, Camden and Beckham Morel and great-great grandchild, Navie Moore; sister, Martharie King of Ft. Worth, TX and numerous nieces and nephews.
She taught elementary school for a total of 33 years with 27 years at Ooltewah Elementary School as a first grade teacher. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Giles Webb Chapter of Colonial Dames, William Marsh Chapter of the DAR, the Sherrod Sunday School Class and the Alpha Circle at Ooltewah U.M.C.
Services will be held at the Ooltewah United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2017 with visitation at the Family Life Center of the church at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at the Ooltewah Cemetery . The Revs. Dwight Kilbourne and Amy Nutt will officiate.
