Mabel Porter

Mrs. Mabel Elizabeth Lingham Porter, age 81, of College Grove, TN, passed away at her home peacefully on December 13, 2024, surrounded by the warmth of her family. Born on July 11, 1943, in Clewiston, Florida, she was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was the daughter of the late Carlton Wiltsie Lingham and Doris Staples Walter Lingham. Mrs. Porter was a social worker for the State of TN. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Alan W. Lingham.

Mrs. Mabel enjoyed coaching basketball for many years and mentoring the players. She loved the outdoors and traveling and seeing many spectacular sights. Most of all, she loved her family and spending time with them and participating in activities with them. 

Mrs. Porter is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Lonnie V. Porter, Sr.; children, Dorene Jackson of College Grove, TN, Tracy Porter of Chapel Hill, TN, Lonnie (Cindy) Porter, Jr. of Chapel Hill, TN; grandchildren, Brittany (Robby) Dockery and Mitchell Everett; great grandchildren, Lakin and Rylan Dockery; her beloved dogs, April Honey and Hazel Grace.

She will be laid to rest in her hometown of Charlottesville, VA later.
