Marie Pugh Mealer

Mrs. Marie Pugh Mealer, age 94, of Chapel Hill, Tennessee, died Thursday, March 20, 2025 in Lewisburg, Tennessee. Mrs. Mealer was born in Chapel Hill and was a daughter of the late Kathleen Davis Pugh and William Roy Pugh, Sr. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Ellis Carlton Mealer, Jr.; a sister, Frances Pugh Haley; and son-in-law, Richard Hill.

Mrs. Mealer was retired after 36 years from Genesco of Chapel Hill where she worked as the office manager. She was a long time member of Smyrna Baptist Church in Chapel Hill and served as the church pianist for many years.

Mrs. Mealer is survived by her daughters, Sandra Hill, Chapel Hill, TN, Glenda (Iston) Ray, Panama City, FL; brother, William Roy (Ann) Pugh, Jr., Chapel Hill, TN; grandchildren, Bryan Hill, Emily (Travis) Darnell; step-grandson, Iston Ray, Jr.; 5 great grandchildren; 2 step-great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Family members will receive friends at Lawrence Funeral Home on Sunday, March 23, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 .m. on Monday, March 24, 2025 from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. Tim McGehee officiating. Burial will follow in Swanson Cemetery in Chapel Hill.

Bryan Hill, Travis Darnell, John Michael Darnell, Jamie Gentry, Ronnie Curtis, and Tommy Howell will serve as pallbearers.
