Mr. Marvin Gentry, age 81, of Shelbyville, Tennessee, died Tuesday, March 31, 2020 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
Mr. Gentry was born in Bedford County and was a son of the late Ulysses S. and Rena Sudberry Gentry. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Robert Amos, Sr.; granddaughter, Brittiney Davis, and brother, Larry Gentry.
Marvin was a member of the class of 1957 at Community School in Unionville, TN. He was a retired milk truck driver and a member of Cedar Grove United Methodist Church. Mr. Gentry was a charter member of the Community Lions Club and had been a member for 50 years.. He was an avid NASCAR fan and also was a local race car driver having raced #33 for many years at both Duck River and Winchester Speedways.
Mr. Gentry is survived by his wife of 36 years, Beverly Gentry, Shelbyville, TN; daughters, Joyce (Rory) Griffy, Chapel Hill, TN, Lynne (Gary) Davis, Lascassas, TN, Kim (Jeff) Walls, Chapel Hill, TN, Shawnn (Brad) Moss, Chapel Hill, TN; brother, James Marion Gentry, Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Buck Griffy, Tiffiney (John) Leyhew, Whittley Davis, Brogen (Katherine) Davis, Courtney (Josh) Haywood, Kaitlyn Walls, Casie Yates, Robert (Lyndsey) Amos, Jr.; great grandchildren, Peyton, Piper and Pearl Leyhew, Noah and Alana Haywood, Myles and Amelia Yates, Hagan, Sissy and Aubree Amos.
In light of the Coronavirus health crisis, there will be no visitation and a private family graveside service will be held with burial to follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery, near Chapel Hill. Please know that online tributes thru the funeral home website are equally appreciated.
