Mary Sheffield

Mary Sheffield, age 67, of Chapel Hill, Tennessee, died Friday evening, December 27, 2013 at her home. Mary was born in Marshall County and was a daughter of the late Jack and Clary Alice Wheeler Sheffield. She was a graduate of Forrest High School Class of 1964. She retiredafter 44 years as a licensed practical nurse, working her entire nursing career at Bedford County General Hospital in Shelbyville. Mary was a lifelong member of the Chapel Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she was a member of the choir and the Cumberland Presbyterian Women. She was an avid UT fan, a Forrest Rockets fan and was the founder of the Junior Pro basketball program in Chapel Hill. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by hertwin sister, Martha Sheffield Cook and her brother, John Noble Sheffield.

Mary is survived by a nephew, Shannon Sheffield (Mandy) Cook, Chapel Hill, TN; niece, Angela (Billy) Baxter, Chapel Hill, TN; great nieces and nephews, Hayden Cook, Harlee Norvell, PryorHaines, and Jackson Haines. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Lawrence Funeral Home. Family members will also receive friends on Sunday, December 29, 2013 from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m at Chapel Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Chapel Hill. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. at the church with Rev. Calvin Lunn and Rev. Joe Wiggins officiating. Burial will follow in the Sheffield Family Cemetery near Chapel Hill.

Bubba Paul, Brian Johns, Britt Johns, Jamie Gentry, Jonas Gillespie and Jason Gillespie will serve as active pallbearers. Members of Forrest High School Class of 1964 will serve as honorary pallbearers.
