Mrs. Mary Jessie Logue, age 91, of Chapel Hill, TN, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2016 in Lewisburg, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Elizabeth Ragsdale Walker; father, Jess Walker; and husband, Jack W. Logue.
Mrs. Logue is survived by a daughter, Judy (James) Daughrity, Chapel Hill, TN; sisters, Mamie Ransbotton, Nashville, TN and Anita (Ken) Peterman, Ashland City, TN; three grandchildren, Jeff (Kristi) Daughrity, Chapel Hill, TN, Lori (Jason) Ray, Belfast, TN, Jessica (Brian) Coleman, Chapel Hill, TN; six great grandchildren, Elizabeth and Jonathan Daughrity, Jordan and Logan Ray, Jayden and Madelynn Coleman.
Mary Jessie was a long-time resident of Chapel Hill, graduating from Forrest High School in 1943 at the top of her class. She began her working career of 41 years as a telephone switchboard operator and then bookkeeper for United Telephone Company, retiring in 1991. She also served as secretary of the Telephone Pioneers of America and treasurer of the Chapel Hill Business and Professional Women’s Club.
She was very devoted to her family and will be remembered as a loving Christian wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. As a multi-talented woman, she loved reading, fishing, crossword puzzles and sewing. Mary Jessie attended Chapel Hill Church of Christ where she taught Bible classes for many years.
Family members will receive friends on Thursday, June 30, 2016 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home. Visitation will also be held on Friday, July 1, 2016 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at the Chapel Hill Church of Christ with funeral services being conducted at11:00 am at the church with Stan Butt and J. D. Schwartz officiating. Burial will follow in Middleview Memorial Gardens.
Jordan Ray, Logan Ray, Jonathan Daughrity, Jason Bart Garner, Christopher Butler and Jeffrey Butler will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be James Daughrity, Jeff Daughrity, Jason Ray, Brian Coleman, Ken Peterman, Marvin Butler and Noah Ballard.
