Maxine Osteen

June 18, 1930 — July 16, 2013

Mary Maxine Chambers Osteen, age 83, passed away on July 16, 2013 at her home in Brentwood, TN.

She was born in Langston, AL to parents Arthur Patton and Daisy Belle Evans Chambers. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Ralph O. Osteen of Brentwood, TN; son, Ralph Osteen Jr. (Amy) of Scottsdale, AZ; daughter, Kathy Osteen Smith (Eddie) of Franklin, TN; son, Jeff Osteen (Beth) of Brentwood, TN; sister, Nadine Riddle of Franklin, TN; and six grandchildren, Marissa Smith; Ralph III and Krista Osteen; Jessica, Benjamin and Nicholas Osteen.

Mrs. Osteen graduated in 1954 from Middle Tennessee State College, Murfreesboro, TN. Outgoing, talented and athletic, Maxine was a majorette with the school band and pursued a degree in Home Economics. She was a schoolteacher before becoming a full time homemaker.

Maxine was a devoted wife, loving mother and proud grandmother. She had many interests, including gardening, visiting the beach and walking daily, but none were as important as supporting and encouraging others. Maxine was a member at Harpeth Hills Church of Christ, Brentwood, TN.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Band Gift Fund—Majorettes, MTSU Bands, Campus  Box 63, Murfreesboro, TN  37132 or Gentiva Hospice, 1400 Donelson Pike, Suite B5, Nashville, TN  37217.

There will be a private family service at Lawrence Funeral Home, Chapel Hill, TN and interment at the Allen Cemetery in Caney Spring, TN. Arrangements will be handled by Lawrence Funeral Home.
