Mr. Jim Speakman

Mr. Jim Speakman, age 74, of Murfreesboro, TN, died on Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro. He was born in Murfreesboro, TN, to his late parents James Andrew (Ann) Speakman and Sue Tomlin (Dub) Smotherman. Mr. Speakman was with Tennessee Department of Transportation for 40 years of his life then at HDR for 15 years. He was a member of Fellowship United Methodist Church in Murfreesboro, TN, and a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Steve Walker, and a brother, Joe Walter Speakman.

Mr. Speakman is survived by his wife, Joyce Speakman, Murfreesboro, TN; daughters, Amy (Michael) Speakman Drake, Murfreesboro, TN, Rhonda Walker, Rockvale, TN, Shelley (Chris) Jaco, Unionville, TN; son, Ronnie Walker, Shelbyville, TN; sisters, Jan Cline, Gallatin, TN, Jenny (Tim) Heinrich, Gatlinburg, TN; brothers, Eddie (Kay) Smotherman, Centerville, TN, Andy Speakman, Gallatin, TN; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Family will receive friends on Friday, August 24, 2018, at Lawrence Funeral Home from 4:00pm until 8:00pm. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, August 25, 2018, at 1:00pm in the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Brother Mack Strange officiating. Burial will follow in Fosterville Cemetery.

Cory Drake, Jimmie Hughes, Chris Husak, Chris Jaco, Bill Steagall, JD Underhill, John Walker, Ronnie Walker, Thomas Walker, and Jay Wood will be serving as active pallbearers. Richard Bradley, Paul Edwards, Donald McClaran, Ken House, Doyle Lowe, and James Wade will be serving as honorary pallbearers.
