Murrey Holton

Murrey E. “Coach” Holton, age 66, of Chapel Hill, TN, died Tues., Apr. 15, 2014. A native of Maury Co., Mr. Holton was a son of the late Murrey Earl Holton and Lillie Sue Blalock Holton. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving as a Military Policeman during the Vietnam War. Murrey graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a Masters Degree and began his coaching and teaching career at Cornersville High School in 1971. He moved to Forrest High School in Chapel Hill in 1973 where he coached until 1990. He also served as an assistant Principal and for a time was the County Attendance Supervisor for the Marshall County School system.

Survived by his wife of 45 years, Kris Ezell Holton of Chapel Hill; daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth (Michael) McClaran of Eagleville; Sara (Jerry) Rzemieniewski of Chapel Hill; Mary (Josh) Williams of Rockvale; sister, Charma (Hank) Woosley of Columbia; brother, Tony (Shelia) Holton of the Pottsville community of Maury Co.; Grandchildren, Eliza Kate, Brigham, Drake; Lillie and Miller.

Visitation will begin at 4PM, Thurs., Apr. 17, 2014 at Lawrence Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 10AM, Fri., Apr. 18, 2014 at Forrest High School gymnasium in Chapel Hill. Burial will follow in the Ring Cemetery in the Pottsville community of Maury Co.
