Oliver Franklin Brown, Jr. age 78, of Franklin, Tennessee, died Friday, August 7, 2020 at Alive Hospice in Nashville. Oliver was a son of the late Oliver F. Brown, Sr. and A.T. Perryman Brown of Chapel Hill.
He was a graduate of Forrest School in Chapel Hill, served his Country in the United States Army at Fort Jackson, South Carolina during the Vietnam War, and graduated from the University of Tennessee. Mr. Brown retired after 40 years from CSX Transportation and was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Franklin, Tennessee.
The greatest joy of his life was his family, especially his grandsons. For years as Uncle Jr., he was the “Candy Man”, always taking photos and making beautiful painted wooden cars and toys for each child.
Oliver is survived by wife of 56 years, Nancy Jo Allen Brown, Franklin, TN; daughters, Susan Brown, Franklin, TN, Melissa (Chris) Ayers, Mission Hills, KS; grandsons, Jason Oliver Ayers, Cleveland, OH, Logan Ayers, Chicago, IL, Grant (Alyssa) Ayers, and soon to be great-granddaughter, Grace Ayers, Dallas, TX; sisters, Brenda Calvert, Unionville, TN, Barbara (Bill) Smith, Nesbitt, MS. He is still lovingly known as Uncle Jr. by numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service for family and friends will be held at a later date.
