Polly Gentry

Mrs. Polly Gentry, age 96, of Chapel Hill, Tennessee, died Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family. Mrs. Gentry was born in Williamson County, Tennessee and was a daughter of the late Dave Edward and Annie Chestine Allen Thomas. She was a long time and oldest member of the Chapel Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church and was very active in church activities. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gentry was also preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Giles Elvis Gentry, who died in 1988; sisters, Elizabeth Baker, Irene Neal; brothers, Edward Thomas, Allen Thomas; and grandson, Clay Stacey.

Mrs. Gentry is survived by her children, Peggy (Alfred) Stacey, Brick Church Comm., Betty Jean (Chady) Johns, Holts Corner Comm., Jerry Wayne (Kay) Gentry, Chapel Hill, TN, James Bee “Jimmy” Gentry, Chapel Hill, TN, Thomas Allen “Tommy” (Angie) Gentry, Chapel Hill, TN, Randy Lynn (Pamela) Gentry, Chapel Hill, TN; sisters, Dorothy (Mike) Garrett, College Grove, TN, Joanne Powers, Antioch, TN; 19 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren.

Family members will receive friends on Thursday, October 24, 2019 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 25, 2019 from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Wiggins officiating. Burial will follow in Simpson Cemetery in the Rover Community.

Brian Stacey, Sam Johns, Gavin Grissom, Jamie Gentry, Eric Gentry and Chandler Gentry will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Harber, David Johns, Mike Pate, Jeff Daughrity, Rex Bowman and all her friends and neighbors whom she loved so much.
