Rachel Johns

Mrs. Rachel McConnelle Johns, age 91, of Chapel Hill TN, died Wednesday, April 18, 2018. Born in Marshall Co., Mrs. Johns was married to the late Norman “Nub” Johns in August of 1943. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, B.B. McConnelle and Edith Fowler McConnelle; a sister, Molly; and a brother, Lewis McConnelle.

For 20 years, Mrs. Johns was a co-owner of Home Town Dress Shop. The following ten years she worked for the Marshall Co. government in the County Judge and the Tax Assessors offices. In the late 1980’s  Mrs. Johns retired to be at home and enjoy and love her family. Early in life she felt the call of  God and joined the Mooresville Presbyterian Church. Later, she became a faithful member and worker in the Chapel Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Survived by her 2 sons, Billy (Maxine) Johns and David (Quindal) Johns of Chapel Hill; 5 grandchildren, Mendy (Jeff) Duty, Jan (Neil) Quinton, Lori Beth (Josh) Visage, Brian (Jennifer) Johns and Brent (Robin) Johns; 10 great grandchildren, Neely, Thomas, Logan, RuthAnn, Rosemary and Ransom Johns, Ryan Duty, Claire and Max Quinton, Riley Visage; 2 step-grandchildren, Brian (Cindy) Patterson and Melinda (Dan) Sweeney; 4 step-great grandchildren, Brett (Andrea) Patterson, Amanda Patterson, Blaize and Boone Sweeney; 2 step-great great grandchildren, Austin and Lane Patterson.

There is no visitation scheduled. The funeral service will be conducted at 10AM,  Thursday, April 19, 2018 from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home. Burial will be at Swanson Cemetery in Chapel Hill.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Chapel Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
