Mrs. Reda Louise Davis Ferguson, age 85, of the Holts Corner Community of Marshall County, died Sunday, February 16, 2014 at Alive Hospice facility in Nashville, Tennessee. Mrs. Ferguson was born in the Holts Corner Community and was the youngest of six children of William Oscar and Esther Ellen Lamb Davis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Alfred Haynes Ferguson; brothers, Kenneth and Norman Davis; sisters, Esther Mae Davis, Hazel Holland and Audalene Ghee; niece, Martha Holland Etheridge; great nephew Jeffrey Curtis.
Mrs. Ferguson graduated with honors from Forrest High School in Chapel Hill and from Nashville School of Business. She was retired from the State of Tennessee where she was an administrative assistant to the highway engineer for the Tennessee Department of Transportation.
She had a special place in her heart for children and a loving devotion to family and friends. Mrs. Reda was a life long member of Promise United Methodist Church and was a faithful member of the Holts Corner Community. She was admired for her beautiful gardens and flowers, as well as her devotion and care to animals.
Mrs. Ferguson was a loving aunt to her nieces and nephews and she is survived by nieces, Wanda (Greg) Ector, Mt. Juliet, TN, Brenda (Doug) Buhler, Nashville, TN, Darlene Johns, Eagleville, TN, Susan (David) DeVaughn, Corinth, MS, Marianne Blackwell, Holts Corner Comm.; nephews, Mack (Phyllis) Davis, Jackson, GA and Chris (Michelle) Johns, Holts Corner Comm.; eight beloved great nieces and nephews; eleven great great nieces and nephews, and special friends, Lynette Holton and Sue Davis.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 18, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Devine and Hal Manier officiating. Burial will follow in Triune Cemetery in Triune, TN.
Clayton Lewis, Richard Lewis, Mike Buhler, Kenny Sweeney, John Sweeney, Tommy Roberson, Josh Curtis and Josh Roberson will serve as pallbearers.
Family members would like to thank the many people who offered prayers and provided countless acts of kindness during her illness. The family would also like to acknowledge the loving care of the Alive Hospice nurses and her physician, Dr. Steven Tai.
