Rockvale, Tennessee

Mr. Richard “Gene” McClain, age 84, of Rockvale, Tennessee, died Tuesday, August 31, 2021 in Shelbyville, Tennessee. Mr. McClain was born in Atna, Tennessee and was a son of the late Frank Brown and Emma Frances Wix McClain. In addition to his parents, Gene was also preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia McClain; sisters, Bertha Holden, Nellie Knapp, Carlene Pope, Teresa Alberry, Jessie Lynch, Mary McClain; brothers, Lloyd McClain, Homer McClain, and Marvin McClain.

Mr. McClain was a veteran of the United States Navy having served in both the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He was of the Baptist faith and was a retired truck driver. Gene loved to fish, loved his family, loved life, but most importantly, loved the Lord.

Mr. McClain is survived by his wife of 26 years, Frankie McClain, Rockvale, TN; children, Donald (Lucy) Hill, Aberdeen, Maryland, Sharon (Quenton) Willis, Jacksonville, AL, Kim (Marvin) Hall, Southhaven, MS; step-daughter, Cathy (Scott) Christianson, Kennewick, WA; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Family members will receive friends on Thursday, September 2, 2021 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, September 3, 2021 from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Bro. Ray Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow in Pressgrove Cemetery near Unionville, Tennessee.

Jimmy Douglas, Drew Sanders, Eddie Stacey, Kevin Fulton, Eugene Smith, Bryan Willis, Mike McClarin and Joey Fulton will serve as pallbearers.
