Mr. Robert Vernon Day, age 90, of Chapel Hill, Tennessee, died Saturday, February 14, 2015, at his home in Chapel Hill. Mr. Day was born in Santa Fe, Tennessee and was a son of the late John William and Tinnie M. Day. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was stationed in the Pacific Theater. After returning home, he became a machinist and retired after 37 years working for AVCO Aerostructures of Nashville. Mr. Day was of the Nazarene faith and was a member of the American Legion, Lewisburg Post 39.
Mr. Day is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lois Day, Chapel Hill, TN; daughters, Diane (John) McCord, Franklin, TN, Elaine (John) Morton, Normandy, TN, Kathy (Dwayne) Kieffer, Chapel Hill, TN; grandchildren, Kristin (Nick) Wilson, Britt (Allison) McCord, Clay Morton, Casey Morton, Anna (Justin) Wright, Andrew Kieffer; great grandchildren, Jack Wilson, Cole Wilson, Hallie Wright.
Family members will receive friends on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 from 12:00 noon until 5:00 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Chatman officiating. Graveside services, with military honors, will follow at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Nashville.
Grandsons will serve as active pallbearers. Shirley Kelley, Wesley Hay, Milton Hay, Cliff Hay, Martha Hay and Clayton Hutchison will serve as honorary pallbearers.
