Russel Loyd Kurtz

Mr. Russel Loyd Kurtz, age 88, of Lewisburg, TN, formerly of College Grove, TN, passed away Friday, October 4, 2024 at Williamson Medical Center in Franklin, TN. Mr. Russel was born in Lake Geneva, WI on July 18, 1936 to the late Augusta Kurtz. Russel worked as a Horse Trainer for 40 years. He proudly served our country in the United States Navy. In addition to his mom, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Laurie Kurtz, as well as 6 siblings.

Russel enjoyed gardening and growing roses of all kinds and colors. He would spend countless hours working in the garden with his wife, Christy. They later became Certified Master Gardner’s together and would travel showing roses they have raised. In his later part of life, he began the woodworking trade. He made many woodworking pieces in his barn. Russel enjoyed spending time with his family. 

Mr. Russel is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mrs. Christy Kurtz of Chapel Hill, TN; his sons, Keith (Brandy) Kurtz of Chapel Hill, TN, and Rick Kurtz of Seattle, WA; 2 grandchildren, Bennett and Kennedy Kurtz of Chapel Hill, TN. 

Visitation with the Kurtz family will be held Friday October 11,2024 from 5-6PM. A Celebration of Life for Mr. Russel Kurtz will be held at 6PM Friday October 11, 2024 in the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Daniel Vire officiating.
