Susan Johns DeVaughn, 64, passed from this life at home Monday, December 3, 2018 a after a lengthy illness. Born May 18, 1954 to Powell Eugene and Mae Sue Ferguson Johns, Susan was a native of the Holts Corner Community of Marshall County, Tennessee and graduated from Forrest High School in Chapel Hill, Tennessee. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Saltillo.
Survivors include her husband of 38 years, David DeVaughn; mother, Mae Sue Vernon of Chapel Hill; father, Powell Eugene Johns and his wife, Donna of Dover, Tennessee; one brother, Chris Johns and his wife, Michelle of Chapel Hill; one brother-in-law, George DeVaughn and his wife, Claudia of Saltillo; two nieces, Ashley Johns Jewell and her husband, Jacob, and Erica Curtis all of Chapel Hill; nephews, Joshua Curtis and his wife, Jennifer of Chapel Hill and Arthur DeVaughn and his wife, Mary of Saltillo; special cousin, Marianne Blackwell of Chapel Hill; special friend, Nancy Price; and many other family members and friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the employees of Legacy Hospice for their loving care her time of need.
She is preceded in death by one sister, Darlene Johns; one nephew, Cody Curtis; grandparents, Clarence and Pearl Haynes Ferguson and Winford and Pearl Johns; and step-father, Williams Vernon.
Visitation will be 5 until 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at W.E. Pegues, Saltillo.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at the Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Rev. Gregg Johnson and Rev. Merl Dixon officiating. Burial will be in Stephens Cemetery.
A memorial service will also be held on Sunday, December 9, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Holts Corner Baptist Church in the Holts Corner Community with Rev. Larry Chatman officiating.
Pallbearers will be Bill Dalton, Phil Hinton, Harvey Pendergrast, Jim Peach, Sammy Sandlin and James Allen.
Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Fellowship Baptist Church.
