Tom Hurt

Dr. Tom Hurt, age 87, of Baxter, Tennessee, formerly of Chapel Hill, Tennessee, died Tuesday, April 11, 2023 in Nashville, Tennessee.

Dr. Hurt was born in Chapel Hill, TN and was a son of the late Frank Leslie (Doc) and Norene Jones Hurt. He received his undergraduate degree from Austin Peay State University,  received his Master's Degree from University of North Carolina, and later received his Doctorate Degree from University of Nebraska.   He was a retired professor, and during his career, taught at East Tennessee State University, University of Nebraska and James Madison University.

Dr. Hurt is survived by his wife of 60 years, Linda Skipworth Hurt, Baxter, TN; children, Julie (John) Barker, Richmond, VA, David (Judy) Hurt, Knoxville, TN, Scott Hurt, Harrisonburg, VA; several beloved grandchildren.

No visitation or services will be held.
